VFD Nixie Smartwatch Displays Time in a Futuristic Way
Are you a sucker for technology and coolest watches? You must check out this futuristic VFD Nixie Smartwatch that boasts a steampunk design and has a futuristic way to showcase time. Designed to capture all data and track every movement of the wearer, this exquisite smartwatch uses Nixie tubes to display time.
Integrated with Vacuum Fluorescent Displays (VFD) encased in glass cylinders, which resemble the Nixie tubes, this smartwatch comes in two variants. One is a traditionally-styled circular Space Watch, and another is the rectangular Cyber Watch that has a more futuristic design. Both watch variants boast solid steel bodies and revive the VFD technology that was used earlier in cassette players and other electronics from the 70s and 80s.
The Space Watch includes two IV-6 tubes for showcasing numbers, as well as two IV-15 tubes for counting down seconds and accurately differentiating between AM/PM. On the other hand, the wider Cyber Watch display is fitted in with 4 IVL 2-7\5 tubes to tell time like a digital watch.
According to Yanko Design, both variants come with plastic and metal straps and are charged via MicroUSB. They both have an extravagantly bright display, enabling time to be viewed easily in outdoor light and darkness. Since VFD technology can work conveniently even in low energy, the watches can run easily for as long as 10 days after a complete charge.
Wearing either of these watches, you’ll feel the nostalgia of the past and speed of future in one beautifully crafted steampunk design. The makers of this VFD Nixie watches have successfully surpassed the initial funding goal of $5,000 on Kickstarter and are now looking forward to producing these cool smartwatches for watch lovers.
You can pre-order the Cyber Watch for $259 and Space watch for $269, and expect the delivery by September 2020.
